ISU has established a scholarship program to allow Illinois State University students to travel to Washington, D.C. to experience everyday life in our nations Capitol. The program's objective is to provide students the opportunity to observe and participate in the legislative process. During their internship students will have the opportunity to witness the challenges and rewards of public life and gain an in depth knowledge of the inner workings of national policymaking and politics.

By expanding internship opportunities for ISU students to Washington DC we not only will be able to help provide a wonderful opportunity for the student but this is also an opportunity for the University as well. Many students who complete this internship will use it as a springboard to start a career in our nations capitol therefore increasing the presence of ISU alumni. Others will go back to Illinois and take with them a new understanding of federal policy and how it is formulated in addition to new communication skills and life experiences.
