Announcement

The University is developing Export Control procedures to address a variety of activities that can be impacted by U.S. Export Control laws and regulations such as research, travel outside the U.S., contracting, hiring, and shipping.  Some practices & resources that are currently available for the University community include:

  • H-1 B Visas: The University conducts an export control review as part of the H-1B visa petition process.  This process requires the Department sponsoring the visa to complete a Deemed Export Control Questionnaire on behalf of the petitioner.  The Questionnaire is vetted by the Export Control Officer and Legal Counsel to determine if there any export control issues that require the University to secure an export control license.
  • Research:  Research & Sponsored Program staff conducts a preliminary export control review for new and current projects.
  • Purchasing: Contracts with export control compliance requirements are reviewed by the Purchasing Department and Legal Counsel.

If you have general questions about export control, please contact the Research & Sponsored Programs Office at 438-2528.  If you have specific questions about contracts with export control compliance requirements, please contact Amy Hackley at 438-1946.
